In our weekly worship service today, we talked about Engaging with Sacred Texts. We talked about challenging our framework for how we view Scripture and developing a willingness to wrestle with it, question it, and research its history and context to help reframe our relationship with it.

After service today, at 3 PM, we had this month's Documentary and Discussion event. We watched the movie Songs from the Streets, which tells the story of the Springfield, MO Street Choir that I helped to organize at the church that we planted, The Connecting Grounds.

Upcoming Events
This coming Saturday, August 22nd at 2 PM, we will be celebrating the life and legacy of Bob Dunn. Bob and his wife, Betty, were very active and involved here at Englewood years ago, and for a time Bob served as the Youth Minister. Bob passed away in June in Arizona, where he and Betty were living. All are welcome to help us honor Bob’s leadership and impact here at Englewood.

Joys and Concerns
Please continue to hold all those impacted by wildfires and subsequent health issues from the smoke in your heart this week.
Hold Betty Dunn and her family in your prayers this week as we host the celebration of life for her husband Bob this coming Saturday.
Keep our teachers, staff, administrators, and students in your heart as they prepare for the start of school in a couple of weeks.
Keep those who are traveling in your thoughts and prayers this week as well.
