Tonight at 5 PM: Coffee and Community Celebration

Join us tonight at 5 PM in the Fellowship Hall for a time of connecting with neighbors and celebrating what makes our community special and great! This event is being held as an alternative connection point for our community during an event at the fairgrounds that features an individual well-known for divisive and hateful speech.

Announcements

  1. Religious Trauma Support Group meets this Wednesday at 6:30 PM in the library. If you have questions about this group, connect with me.

  1. Next Sunday is our potluck Sunday. As always come and connect, no matter if you are able to bring food or not. Next week will be a time for our new Connection Groups to have lunch and plan for the next few months. You should have received an email from me this week about which group you are in and where your group will eat lunch next week. If you have questions about new groups that start in September, please reach out to me.

  1. This fall, Doyle Hardy will lead a class on the Gospel of John. The study will meet Wednesday mornings in the Fireside Room at 10:00 a.m. beginning September 9. He anticipates 15 sessions, but will move at the pace of the group to allow plenty of time for discussion. Purchasing a study book is not necessary; Doyle plans to have study guides for each session. However, if you choose to purchase a book to supplement the class, he suggests: The People’s Commentary of the New Testament by M. Eugene Boring and Fred B. Craddock. This readable yet scholarly commentary covers the entire New Testament and can be purchased from a number of sources, including Amazon. The price varies wildly - so look at several sources. If you have questions about this group, connect with Doyle.

  1. Ladies' friendship group (new name) now meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month and will continue year-round. If you have questions about this group, see Rosemary Preacher.
