1-11-26 Announcements
We started a three-week series today on Exploring Forgiveness. This is a series that we are doing in partnership with Wesley United Methodist Church.
This week I shared a personal message about lessons I have had to learn about forgiveness through a season of struggle in my life.
Next week Rev. Shane Moore from Wesley and I will do a discussion both at his service and at ours.
Then the last week of the month, I will be preaching at Wesley and Rev. Moore will be preaching here at Englewood.
If you were not able to join us in person or online today during service, you can use the button below to watch our service back this week on your schedule.

Today's Announcements
On Monday, January 19th we will be walking as a faith community in the Martin Luther King march. You can sign up to walk with us at the welcome desk in the Narthex or by clicking on this link. I will email out information about our meeting location before the walk next Monday.
Also on the welcome desk is a sign up sheet for the Camp Hope meal this month that connection group 2 is planning and preparing. The date for this meal is Tuesday, January 20th.
The sermon that I shared today was taken from excerpts of my book God of the Gaps. If you are interested in having a copy, I have books in the office if you are new to Englewood and did not receive one in the fall of 2024 when I preached through the series on that book right after coming.
Getting Connected
As I shared last week, I am starting a book discussion group. I will announce the book selection, and then, after six weeks, I will host a Zoom Discussion for anyone who would like to discuss the book with me. The first selection is The Separation of Church and Hate.
The Zoom discussion for this book will be held on Thursday, February 12th, at 6:30 PM. Let me know if you are interested in participating to receive the Zoom link.
You can click on the image of the book below to learn more about this selection and order online if you would like your own copy. There are also three copies in the church library that you can check out to participate.
As part of our Wide Welcome Initiative, we work to create opportunities for learning and growth each month in areas related to justice, inclusion, and care for our neighbors.
In 2026, we will be focusing our learning on the history and harms of religion on our indigenous neighbors. In January and February, there will be a documentary suggested for those who would like to view it on their own time, and then a Zoom meeting will be held to discuss our thoughts and feelings about the subject of the film.
In January, we will be watching and discussing: Episode one of the Ken Burns documentary series The West. Which can be viewed on PBS.org the discussion will take place via Zoom on Wednesday, January 28, at 6:30 PM
In February, we will watch and discuss episode 5 of the same series. Our Zoom discussion that month will take place on Wednesday, February 25th, at 6:30 PM.

Joys and Concerns
Be thinking about Keith Dorsey, our oldest Englewood member. Keith is 101 and is having trouble getting out as often. We wrote cards for him today and if you were not able to write one and would like to drop one by the church or email me and I can print it off to send to him, he loves to read mail.
Continue to hold Kathy Helseth in your prayers as she is adjusting to the new Adult Care Center she is at in Yakima. Also be sending love to David and their family as they are navigating new seasons, steps, and decisions in Kathy's health journey.
Connection Group Schedule for January
If you are not yet in a connection group and would like to be added to one, please email me and let me know! I will help you get connected.
As always, if you need anything this week or there is any way that I can support you- please reach out to me.
Blessings,
Christie
